Man arrested in Glenburnie after border breach

Police in South Australia’s South East arrested a man yesterday after a border breach.

Police received information on the morning of Thursday, the 11th of November alerting them of a man who walked through a forest area alongside the Princes Highway near the border.

The man was located a short while after police patrols arrived at the scene and was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a direction.

He had allegedly attempted to evade capture by dressing in camouflage clothing.

The man is 36 years old and reportedly has no fixed address. He was due to appear in the Mt Gambier Magistrates Court via video link on Friday after being refused bail.

The accused man was also given a COVID-19 test and returned a negative result.
