South Australian grain growers are being encouraged to seek the latest advice on rising mouse activity, with an online industry session scheduled for this Friday night.
The webinar, hosted by Grain Producers Australia, comes as reports indicate mouse numbers are increasing across parts of the state ahead of seeding.
GPA Southern Region Director Mark Schilling says the timing is critical, with crops particularly vulnerable during early establishment.
He says growers need up-to-date information on management options as pressure begins to build.
The session will include updates on an application to the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority for an emergency permit for zinc phosphide bait, known as ZP50.
Researchers from CSIRO will also outline current mouse population trends and practical control strategies.
Growers are being urged to take part, ask questions, and contribute data to support the emergency permit process as the industry prepares for a potentially challenging season.
