Major Crash Investigators have arrested a man following a fatal crash at Paringa on Monday.
At about 2.45 pm on Monday 13 December, emergency services were called to the scene of a crash between a Honda sedan and a Honda motorbike at the intersection of the Sturt Highway and Murtho Road.
Sadly a pillion passenger on the motorbike, a 62-year-old woman from Paringa, died at the scene. The rider, a 66-year-old Paringa man, was taken to the Berri Hospital in a critical condition before being airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
The Honda sedan driver, a 30-year-old man from Renmark, was not injured. The Sturt Highway was closed for several hours while local police and Major Crash Investigators examined the scene.
Investigators arrested the driver of the Honda sedan and charged him with aggravated careless driving. He was bailed to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court on 8 March 2022.
The woman’s death is the 94th life lost on SA roads compared to 88 at the same time last year.
