VFF urges farm families to prioritise child safety

The Victorian Farmers Federation is urging farming families to keep child safety front of mind during National Farm Safety Week, following a number of serious on-farm incidents involving children.

The VFF says the incidents, including several during the recent school holiday period, are a reminder that safety must remain a priority on every farm.

VFF President Ryan Milgate says farm safety is about ensuring the people farmers care about can return home safely each day.

He is encouraging farmers to use resources available through the Making Our Farms Safer project, including free farm safety visits and a Child Safety on Farms Guide.

Mr Milgate says every farm is different, but practical steps can help identify hazards and create safer environments for children living on or visiting properties.
