Drought-affected farming families and workers in Victoria’s south west are being urged to access financial relief, as prolonged dry conditions continue to place pressure on household budgets.
Up to one thousand dollars is available through Household Financial Relief Payments, targeting farmers, farm employees and contractors across eleven local government areas.
The initiative is being coordinated by the Country Women’s Association of Victoria, with State President Jenny Nola encouraging eligible recipients to seek assistance for everyday costs.
She says the payments can help cover essential expenses including groceries, utilities, school costs and council rates, which can quickly accumulate during difficult seasons.
The program forms part of the Victorian Government’s one hundred and forty-six million dollar drought support package, aimed at easing financial stress and strengthening regional economies.
Applications remain open until the end of June next year, or until available funds are exhausted, with further support information accessible through Agriculture Victoria and the CWA Victoria website.
