Regional Tech Hub Closes After Six Years

The National Farmers’ Federation has confirmed the Regional Tech Hub has closed after six years supporting rural, regional and remote Australians with independent phone and internet advice.

Since launching in 2020, the Hub provided free, independent advice on phone and internet access to people across rural, regional and remote Australia.

The service has now ended after Federal Government funding expired on June 30, with efforts to secure alternative funding unsuccessful.

NFF Chief Executive Michael Guerin said the closure is disappointing and warned regional Australians still need independent support as telecommunications technology becomes increasingly complex.

Mr Guerin said while governments continue to invest in regional telecommunications infrastructure, people still need practical advice to understand what services are available and make them work where they live.

Direct support services from the Regional Tech Hub closed on June 30, with existing information and resources set to shut down at the end of August.
