Livestock funds deliver almost $5 million investment

South Australia’s sheep and cattle industries are set to benefit from almost $5 million in producer-funded investment during the 2026-27 financial year.

The funding will support projects targeting biosecurity and animal health, predator and pest management, industry leadership, innovation and workforce capability.

$3.76 million has been committed through the Sheep Industry Fund, while the Cattle Industry Fund will provide almost $600,000.

The Sheep Industry Fund will also contribute $250,000 towards rebuilding the South Australian Dog Fence, and more than $390,000 towards ongoing maintenance.

Livestock SA chief executive Travis Tobin says the investment demonstrates the value of producer contributions being directed into practical outcomes for the industry.

Projects include sheep biosecurity, wild dog control, blowfly research, pain mitigation and industry development. Cattle projects include NLIS compliance, biosecurity extension and beef industry development.
