NSW Riverina pledge for $1 billion regional NSW 'turbocharge'

Rikki Lambert

Deputy Premier Paul Toole was in Wagga Wagga on Thursday to announce a new regional activation funding pool to capitalise on private sector interest in investing in regional New South Wales.

Fresh from visiting the Wagga Wagga Special Activation Precinct on Thursday to make the announcement, the NSW National party leader told Flow listeners in southern NSW:

"We're expecting around $5 billion of private sector investment to occur in regional NSW and create 15,000 jobs. We want to turbocharge and transform the regions and be in the box seat to do that.
"I'm seeing a lot of private sector investors wanting to relocate or invest in regional NSW. We're seeing a real resurgence when it comes to advanced manufacturing, and we're seeing some of those industries around defence, renewables and agri-business being created right in our own backyard. We've got businesses from other states wanting to relocate and global businesses wanting to invest in this country and I want to make sure we see that investment right here in New South Wales."
