NSW Farmers Welcome REZ Inquiry Findings

NSW Farmers says a parliamentary inquiry has confirmed long-held concerns about the rollout of Renewable Energy Zones, after concluding the transition has caused what it describes as "avoidable harm" to regional communities.

The inquiry made 16 recommendations, including calls for stronger planning, improved accountability and broader compensation arrangements for neighbours impacted by renewable energy developments.

NSW Farmers President Rebecca Reardon says the report highlights a lack of coordinated government planning and a failure to properly consider impacts on agricultural productivity, land values and insurance availability.

She says farmers have raised these concerns for years and is urging the State Government to pause and reassess the current approach to renewable energy development across regional New South Wales.

Ms Reardon says the organisation stands ready to work with government and industry to improve consultation with farming communities and deliver better outcomes for regional landholders.
