NFF SEEKS SUPPORT TO SECURE AGRICULTURAL WORKFORCE PROGRAM

The National Farmers’ Federation is calling for industry, corporate Australia and governments to help secure the future of AgCAREERSTART, as Commonwealth funding for the agricultural workforce program approaches its end.

Delivered by the NFF, AgCAREERSTART provides young Australians aged 18 to 25 with paid, supported on-farm placements, alongside training, networking and career development.

Since launching in 2022, the program has placed 275 participants on farms across Australia, with 90% remaining in agricultural careers or further study. The program has also recorded a 77% completion rate and returned five dollars 56 cents for every dollar invested.

The NFF says demand remains strong, with more than 700 applications received across the 2022 to 2026 cohorts, while farmers continue to support the program as a way of developing the next generation of agricultural workers.

With government funding due to expire, the NFF is now seeking new and renewed investment from industry, corporate Australia and governments, with potential partners urged to get in touch by September 30.
