The Federal Government says it is continuing to secure more essential fuel and fertiliser to keep Australia moving, with the announcement this week of approximately 31,000 tonnes of additional urea and approximately 50 million litres of additional diesel secured through the Government’s $7.5 billion Fuel and Fertiliser Security Facility.

The latest shipments are aimed at strengthening supply chains and providing greater certainty for farmers facing ongoing global input pressures, particularly around fertiliser availability ahead of seasonal planting decisions.

The additional urea has been secured in partnership with Summit Fertilisers, while BP Australia has been involved in arrangements for the diesel shipment destined for Perth.

Agriculture Minister Julie Collins says the measures are designed to support farmers through global volatility and reinforce Australia’s long-term food security position.

The latest fertiliser shipment brings total urea secured under the program to around 240,000 tonnes, while diesel supplies now total about 740 million litres across multiple shipments.

The Government says it will continue working with industry partners to secure further supplies where possible, as global supply conditions remain uncertain.
