The Minns Labor Government has announced an expansion of drought assistance measures as dry conditions continue across southern and western New South Wales.
The package includes doubling the maximum loan available under the Drought Ready and Resilient Fund from $250,000 to $500,000, enabling larger resilience projects and support for operational costs. A new Drought Relief Loan of up to $100,000 will also be introduced, offering low-cost finance with reduced documentation requirements.
Funding has been extended for the NSW Rural Financial Counselling Service, the Drought Adoption Officer Program and the Southern NSW Drought Coordinator, with the role now continuing through to the end of 2026 and expanding into western districts.
Additional on-ground measures include free statewide feed and water testing through Local Land Services, as well as increased programs targeting kangaroos, feral pigs and deer in drought-affected regions.
The new loans will be administered by the Rural Assistance Authority, with applications opening from 10 March 2026.
