Five people linked to an Adelaide Plains piggery are facing dozens of animal cruelty charges following an investigation by the RSPCA South Australia.
Â
The charges relate to alleged mistreatment of multiple pigs at Andgar Piggery near Dublin, with one person facing 49 charges and four others facing 31 each.
Â
The investigation began last year after video footage was submitted showing conditions inside the property, prompting an inspection by RSPCA inspectors and PIRSA veterinary staff.
Â
The RSPCA says multiple pigs were euthanised during the inspection, while 21 animal welfare notices were issued requiring immediate action to address welfare concerns.
Â
Court documents allege hundreds of pigs were subjected to poor living conditions, including inadequate shelter and hygiene issues.
Â
The matter appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court this week and has been adjourned, with the RSPCA saying it will not provide further comment while proceedings continue.
