Twelve women from across Australia have been selected for the National Farmers’ Federation’s 2026 Diversity in Agriculture Leadership Program.
The initiative is designed to improve the representation of women in agricultural leadership through mentoring, networking and professional development opportunities.
National Farmers’ Federation Chief Executive Mike Guerin says the program plays an important role in building the next generation of industry leaders, as the organisation works toward doubling the number of women in leadership positions by 2030.
The cohort includes participants from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and the Northern Territory, representing a broad cross-section of the agricultural sector.
Participants will attend a three-day leadership retreat in Canberra before being matched with experienced mentors to help guide their professional and personal development.
Victorian participant Roya Khalil says diversity is essential to creating a stronger, more innovative and resilient agricultural industry, while New South Wales participant Kathleen Allan says the program offers an important opportunity to connect with women helping shape the future of Australian agriculture.
