Victoria’s Southern Mallee has been taken by Storm

The world has been focussed on the Middle East, while Australia said no to the Voice, but in the Southern Mallee of Victoria a ‘Giant’ decision has taken place as two footy communities decide to merge now for the 2024 season.

On Wednesday night the 25th of October two ‘special resolutions meetings’ took place at the same time but at different venues.

At Jeparit, the childhood home of the famous former Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies, the Jeparit Rainbow Storm football and netball club voted and decided with a 79.5% majority to merge with near neighbours the Southern Mallee Giants for season 2024 and prospectively play in the Wimmera Football League At nearby Beulah, the Orange coloured Giants supporters from Hopetoun and Beulah areas met and voted almost unanimously (98%) to merge with the Storm.

President of the JR Storm Lucas Eddleston joined Flow FM football host Wayne Phillips on Thursdays Morning Show and said.

" The decision will require ratification from AFL Wimmera Mallee and the two affected football leagues the Horsham District and the Wimmera competitions."

"There will be discussion from both committees about name, emblem, colours, jumpers and netball uniforms."
