VFF Reveals Five-point Election Plan

By Jessica Dempster
The Victorian Farmers Federation has launched a five-point election platform ahead of the Victorian election in November, calling for action on roads, land use, emergency services, energy and pest control.
Its Back Victorian Farmers platform includes 15 commitments, including an extra two-billion dollars for regional roads and a new Land Use and Food Security Commissioner to strengthen protections for farmland.
The VFF also wants the proposed VNI West transmission project and Western Renewables Link reconsidered, alongside Right to Farm laws and stronger wild dog and pest control.
VFF President Ryan Milgate says farmers have built a highly productive sector, but policy decisions are too often made without enough understanding of what happens at the farm gate.
The federation is also calling for better access to childcare, healthcare and housing in regional areas, as well as a long-term water security and pipeline strategy for western Victoria.
The full Back Victorian Farmers platform is available at vff.org.au.
