A look at round two of the AFLW season.

THEY SAID IT: "When she's on like that, she's pretty hard to stop." - Brisbane coach Craig Starcevich delighted in Dakota Davidson's match-winning performance against Port Adelaide. The power forward took six contested marks and kicked four goals and even dropped back to help out her defence when the heat was on.

PLAYER OF THE ROUND: Gold Coast star Jamie Stanton celebrated her 50th game in style, slotting six goals to take her side to a club record-breaking 73-point win over West Coast on Saturday.

THE MOMENT: Adelaide star Danielle Ponter shocked herself when she nailed an incredible goal from the centre circle. It was a long-range boot that cleared every player in the Crows forward-half and dribbled beautifully into the goal square and through. It will no doubt be a goal-of-the-year contender.

TALKING POINT: Matches at traditional suburban venues are one of AFLW's most celebrated features and Essendon added another to the list with their first AFLW match at Windy Hill. The Bombers returned for their first game at their spiritual home in a national competition - either men's or women's - since August 1991. They celebrated the occasion with a win, beating St Kilda by 12 points.

TRIBUNAL WATCH: Nil.

STATS THAT MATTER: Until five minutes before the final siren, Carlton were looking to become the first team in AFLW history to be kept scoreless throughout an entire game. The Blues lost 1.0 (6) to the Kangaroos' 10.6 (66). Fremantle's defeat to Geelong last year in season seven brought the lowest score in the competition - 0.1 (1) to 3.9 (27).

INJURIES: E. Hartill (WC, concussion), S. Davison (WC, shoulder).

WHAT'S NEXT: Undefeated duo North Melbourne and Geelong square off on Friday night in what appears match of the round, although Adelaide and the resurgent Essendon will challenge for that tag on Saturday afternoon. At the other end of the table, St Kilda and Port Adelaide seek their first wins of the campaign, while red-hot Melbourne will want another easy win, against Western Bulldogs.
