The South Australian Government has announced a new $8 million investment aimed at strengthening the future of the state's primary industries.

The Primary Industries Future Forward Fund will provide support over the next four years for research, innovation and new technologies across key sectors including grains, livestock, dairy, seafood, wine, horticulture and forestry.

The Malinauskas Government says the fund is designed to help producers improve productivity, respond to changing market conditions and adopt more sustainable farming practices.

Funding will also support efforts to improve preparedness for biosecurity threats, environmental disruptions and other emerging challenges facing the sector.

The initiative expands on the model used under South Australia's Wood Fibre and Timber Industry Master Plan, with support now being extended to a broader range of agricultural industries.

The Government says the investment will help position South Australia's primary producers to take advantage of opportunities arising from the transition to a greener economy.
