Farmers on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula are being urged to register for support with the charity Rural Aid as bushfires continues to threaten farms, livestock and rural communities.

Fire conditions across the region remain volatile, and producers are facing uncertainty as damage is expected to crops, fencing, sheds and other critical farm infrastructure.

Rural Aid says early registration allows assistance to be delivered quickly once conditions are safe, even if damage has not yet occurred.

Chief executive John Warlters says the fire is fast-moving and unpredictable, and could have a significant impact on farming families.

“By registering with Rural Aid, farmers ensure we can contact them quickly and provide the right support at the right time,” he said.

Registered farmers can access a range of free services, including financial assistance for urgent expenses, hay and water deliveries, counselling, and volunteer help through the Farm Army program.

Producers affected by drought in other parts of South Australia are also encouraged to register, so support can be delivered when it’s needed most.

Rural Aid is also calling on the broader community to assist through donations, helping farmers rebuild operations and maintain Australia’s food and fibre supply.

Mr Warlters says the charity’s services are designed to provide practical, timely support to farming families during emergencies.

Farmers in affected areas are encouraged to register online or by calling 1300 327 624, so help can be mobilised as quickly as possible.
