A unique mix of agriculture, community, and two-wheeled adventure made its way into South Australia for the first time last week as ADAMA Australia's 2-Wheel Trial Tour hit the road across the state.
Now in its eighth year, the tour has built a strong following in Western Australia and this year crossed the border for the first time, bringing with it around 28 riders, including farmers, agronomists and resellers, all taking part in an immersive, on-the-ground agricultural experience.
“It all started with a simple idea between a couple of mates who love motorbikes and agriculture,” said ADAMA's Market Development Manager & tour coordinator Bevan Addison.
“We thought, why not do our client visits on bikes, and it just grew from there. Eight years later, here we are in SA.”
The week-long tour took riders through Freeling, Malang, Mannum, the Clare Valley and Hart, with visits to local trial sites and farming operations along the way. The team was based at the Freeling Sports Centre, where local footy and netball clubs supported the event through catering and facilities.
“There’s such a variation in country here in South Australia,” Bevan said. “From the river country around Mannum to the mid-north and Clare Valley—it’s all different, and the growers have been so generous with their time. It’s a real two-way exchange of ideas.”
Beyond agronomy, the tour is also recognised for its positive impact on rural mental health and community connection.
“This gets people out of their own little world,” Bevan said. “It gives people a chance to connect, talk, and build friendships across states. You’ve got blokes from WA, SA and even Victoria sitting around the same table, sharing stories.”
Looking ahead, Addison said there’s strong interest in bringing the tour back to SA.
“We’d love to come back,” he said. “We’ll sit down, evaluate how it went, and look at expanding. The local response has been amazing - the Freeling crew were already asking us to return.”
