Charges laid over fatal river crash

A man has been charged by police following a fatal collision on the Murray River near Blanchetown where a boy was struck by a jet ski.



At 2.20 pm on Thursday emergency services were called to the Murray River at Murbko after a jet ski collided with two young swimmers.


A 14-year-old Roxby Downs boy was pulled from the water unconscious but sadly died at the scene. A younger child who was with the 14-year-old received minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.


The rider of the jet ski, a 43-year-old Craigmore man, has been charged with aggravated causing death by dangerous driving and aggravated causing harm by dangerous driving. He has been bailed to appear at the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 23 February 2022.
