Police drug bust at Sturt Highway, Daveyston


A man has been charged with drug trafficking after police located 9kgs of what they suspect to be methamphetamine in a vehicle earlier this week.


On Tuesday evening 13 April, Detectives from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch stopped a Toyota Land Cruiser on the Sturt Highway at Daveyston, in the Barossa Valley.


A search by police uncovered approximately 9 kilograms of what SA Police suspect is methamphetamine and approximately 1kg of suspected heroin hidden in the vehicle.


On Wednesday 14 April, police searched a residential property and then arrested a 49-year-old man from Hillier.


Police charged the man with two counts of trafficking in a large commercial quantity of a controlled drug.


The man did not apply for bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today
