The Federal Government has opened further transition funding for sheep producers and livestock transport operators ahead of the phase out of live sheep exports by sea in twenty-twenty-eight.
A second round of the Livestock Transport Industry Transition Program is now open, offering grants of up to forty-thousand dollars to help operators diversify into alternative freight and logistics work.
Sheep producers will next week gain access to the Farm Business Transition Program, with grants of up to seventy-five-thousand dollars available for infrastructure, training and alternative management practices.
The programs sit within the one-hundred-and-forty million dollar transition package aimed at supporting businesses and regional communities through the change.
More than six-hundred-and-ninety thousand dollars was distributed to transport operators in the first round, alongside more than ten million dollars to sheep producers.
Minister Julie Collins says the package is designed to strengthen resilience and support long-term planning.
