Melbourne Vixens coach Simone McKinnis has shocked netball fans by announcing 2025 will be her last season in charge.
Taking the Fox Netball microphone as part of celebrations into her 200 games coached, McKinnis stunned host Bianca Chatfield when she revealed she would not be at the club in 2026.
Reflecting on her decorated career, she said “It's a challenging decision but good grief I've had 13 years, and I've loved every one of them, but it's time to move on".
The two-time championship coach has spent the last 13 years at the helm of the Vixens, leading the club to an impressive three minor premierships and four grand final appearances.
McKinnis’ on-air bombshell shocked those at John Cain Arena on Sunday, with the club later releasing a statement.
The Vixens are adamant a mid-season announcement on McKinnis’ future will allow the club adequate time to find a new coach in time for the 2026 season.
