Rising Australian tennis star Maya Joint has claimed her maiden WTA Tour Title at the Moroccan Open.
The 19-year-old defeated Romania's Jaqueline Cristian in the final in straight sets, 6-3 6-2.
She collapsed on the clay court in joy after winning match point, and after the match said "I'm really excited that I was able to win a title here, and hopefully it'll be the first of many".
Joint faced fellow Aussie Ajla Tomljanovic in the semi final, but Tomljanovic was forced to retire hurt after Joint won the first set 6-4. The Aussies coincidentally will again go head-to-head in the first round of the French Open.
The victory has also rocketed Joint up the world rankings to a career-best 53rd.
