Cattle Australia's Cattle Connect event was heavily publicised on Flow's Country Viewpoint program in the lead-up to the event taking place last week, when Cattle Australia announced its first Regional Consultative Committee.
Grass-fed beef producers from across the country attended the event, both in person and online, to meet with the 2025 representatives, with two elected director positions having been contested through the election process.
Adam Coffey from the North Australia Beef Research Region and Gary Edwards from the South Australia Livestock Research Region were both re-elected, while eight positions were contested all in all with two representatives re-elected and five new representatives joining the committee.
Chris Parker, the Cattle Australia Chief Executive Officer, said the organisation had been smoothly guided through a challenging period in 2024.
“Our Board of Directors has guided us through some significant milestones for the grass-fed beef sector and a few challenging moments for the broader agricultural industry since our last AGM, and the re-election of two Directors signals our members’ confidence in our Board’s ability to ensure the organisation is providing a visible, unified, and influential voice for grass-fed cattle levy payers,” Parker said in a media release.
The new directly elected members of the Regional Consultative Committee consist of Jack Gosse, Darryn Browne, Weldon Percy, Kari Moffat, Lachlan Smith, Steven Drury, Trent Radel and Caitlin McConnel.
