Making News: SA teachers seek 14% pay increase & NSW proactive approach to fires


Last week school teachers went on strike as a result of union discussions for pay increases of 14% in a two year period.


There is concerns that teachers would leave the industry and the pressure facing teachers needs further increases.


The South Australian Education Minister Blair Boyer has put forward an offer of a 3% pay increase each year for three years.


The NSW Reconstruction Authority has a budget of over $321 million over the next four years.


NSW fire service has warned that there is a high risk of fires in the fire season ahead. Only 24% of planned hazard reduction burns have occurred this year due to wetter conditions.


The NSW Reconstruction Authority will be the first of it kind in NSW to proactively reduce the impact of future disasters.
