Footy Results - week 7



South Australia

HIGHLIGHT

The performance of the weekend goes to Adelaide Plains side United Long Plains Tigers after they defeated Hummocks watchmen Eagles and with a 3 win 2 loss record for the season find themselves in the top 4! United were winless for three years in seasons 2020-21-22.


CUP CLASSICS

The two Tiger Teams in Barossa Light and Gawler played off at Nuriootpa at the weekend. The Gawler version were no match for the tenacious Rover and bragging rights remain in the Barossa. Other ‘CUPS’ decided at the weekend included Angle Vale beating Virginia in the ‘Tomato Trophy’ for glasshouse glory! On the Yorke Peninsula the Cornish Cup went to Moonta beating arch rival Kadina on the Kernowek Lowender weekend.


TOP OF THE TABLE UNDEFEATED

Crystal Brook show their premiership credentials remaining undefeated in Northern Areas by beating previously undefeated BMW by more than 10 goals. Robe Roosters remained winners after claiming victory over Kongorong, Sedan Cambrai have three in a row after mauling newcomers Murrayville.


ONE SIDED

This week the most onesided competition was Great Flinders where all three games were blowouts. Elliston overcoming a difficult week by winning the footy by 107 points, Tumby Bay by 63 points over Lock who managed just 1 goal and undefeated United Yeelanna won by 118 points over Kapinnie. Western Eyre not far behind with the top three beating the bottom three. Ceduna by 129 over Wirrulla, West Coast 75 over Koonibba and Westies by 33 over Thevvy.


FIRST WIN

Blanchetown Swan Reach got its first points with a 10 point win over Ramco, and Wunkar beating Paringa for their first win of the season.


THE CLOSEST GAMES COMP

River murray wins this title this week with the biggest margin across 4 games of 31 points as Jervois beat arch rival Tailem Bend. The Cats lost to Imps by 9 points, the SM Suns came from behind to pinch the game against Mypo by 7 points while Ramblers are into the top 5 after outlasting Mannum by 4 points.


THE BIG SURPRISES

They were found this week in KNT as Border Districts have dropped into second place after downing Padthaway by 14 goals. Keith had an unexpected margin of 61 points over Naracoorte while Kingston kicked straight to beat Bordertown and Mundulla put Lucindale outside the top 5 at the swamp. Penola are hanging in there with a workman win over Kyby. Waikerie are the surprise in Riverland as they hold top spot but still 5 teams look like they can win on their day.

In Victoria and NSW

HIGHLIGHT

Redcliffs beating Irymple in a ridiculous upset in Sunraysia. Others to rate a mention were Brock Burrum winning their first game from 6 starts in Hume NSW footy.


CUP CLASSICS

There were two Riverina footy games that had local rivalry written all over them. GGGM (Ganmain) Lions just beat Mango (Mangoplah) while Collingullie won at their famous ‘Crossroads’ ground over near neighbours Coolamen.


TOP OF THE TABLE UNDEFEATED

Osborne dominated the home and away 2022 footy season where they never lost a match only to lose the Grand Final. This year after 6 rounds they are yet to lose a match. Robinvale Euston beat Merbein by 28 points and are also undefeated. Cardross likewise have won 5 games from 5 matches in nearby Millewa footy. Harrow Balmoral kicked 30 plus goals again in Horsham District and remain undefeated from 6 matches and 480 percent (the next best is JR Storm with 181 percent). The Rock Yerong Creek, coincidently just up the road from Osborne are undefeated in Farrer footy.


ONE SIDED

The Horsham district had 6 games. The closest was NQ Bombers beating Edenhope Apsley by 13 points, Stawell Swifts got Pimpinio by 4 goals, Rupanyup over the Kalkee Keys by 30 points, Natimuk over Taylors Lake by 48 points, JR Storms by 65 points over Kaniva Leeor Cougars at Kaniva and Harrow by 211 points over Lahaum mountain men who clearly have one to climb!


FIRST WIN

Horsham Dees beat Warrack Eagles in Wimmera. They had a drawn game but this was their first win. Brock Burrum also in Hume footy beating Lockhart.


THE CLOSEST GAMES COMP

Wimmera win that this week asa Ararat upset the SM Giants by 31 points. It was closer between Stawell and Nhill where the Warriors beat the blue tigers by 19 points, still closer as the Dees won the bottom of the table clash over Warrack Eagles by 7 points and finally the Dimmy Roos defeated Min Murt in a thriller by 6 points.


THE BIG SURPRISES

Dimmy Roos beating Minyip Murtoa was good along with Werrimull kicking a large score over Meringur but then they had the surprise player Jason Akermanis turn out to play with 4 goals. The Billibong Crows kept the Murray magpies to zero goals on the day while they helped themselves to percentage with 19 goals 13 behinds. Howlongs 10 goal win over the CDHBU Power was impressive. Trent castles 9 goals out of 15 for Jindera in their easy win over Culcairn a good effort. Coleambally, traditional cellar dwellers lost by just 10 points to top of the table The Rock Yerong Creek (TRYC)
