Firearms stolen from APY Lands

Police continue to investigate a break-in in the APY Lands where firearms were stolen.



Sometime between 2 and 16 December, five rifles were stolen from a secure firearm cabinet at a property Umuwa in the State's Far North.


As part of the investigation, Far North Police recovered two of the stolen rifles and reported a 30-year-old man from the Far North on 19 December for serious criminal trespass, theft and two counts of possessing a firearm without a licence.


He will be summonsed to appear in court at a date to be set. Investigations are continuing regarding the three outstanding firearms:


  • Tikka bolt action 223 rifle

  • Tikka bolt action 308 rifle

  • Winchester lever action 3030 rifle
