A man has died following a crash west of Port Augusta this morning.
About 2.15am on Tuesday 19 December, police were called to the Eyre Highway at Lincoln Gap after a truck and SUV collided.
The driver and sole occupant of the Lexus SUV, a 31-year-old man from Ceduna, sadly died in the crash.
The truck driver, a 60-year-old man from Quorn, sustained serious injuries in the crash and was taken to Port Augusta Hospital. He is currently in a stable condition and is expected to be flown to Adelaide.
Major Crash Investigators have flown to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The Eyre Highway is currently closed between Caroona Road and Press Road and is expected to remain closed for several more hours.
Light vehicles are detouring via Caroona Road while heavy vehicles are parked up at both ends of the closure.
The man’s death is the 109th life lost on SA roads compared with 66 at the same time last year.
