Eyre Peninsula man reported over grass fire

A man from Murdinga has been reported after he allegedly started a grass fire on property near Lock during the fire danger season.



At just after 7 pm on Wednesday, police and CFS crews responded to reports of a fire coming from a property on Bascombe Well Road at Lock.


On police arrival, the fire was burning out of control and heading in a northwesterly direction.


CFS appliances from Lock, Murdinga and Tooligie attended and brought the grass fire under control before it cause any damage to any buildings. However, approximately 200ha of wheat and barley crop was burnt and multiple fences were damaged.


Following an investigation, on Friday 3 December, police spoke to a 48-year-old man who was reported for lighting a fire during fire danger season and causing a bushfire. The man will be summonsed to appear in court at a date to be set.
