Victorian Independent MP Ali Cupper has lashed out at Federal MP Dr Anne Webster's petition against the Victorian government's mandatory vaccination policy for prescribed workers.
Member for Mildura Ms Cupper described Dr Webster's petition as "irresponsible" and "unreasonable".
"We are literally dicing with death. That's not me being melodramatic that's just a fact," Ms Cupper said.
"We are dealing with a global pandemic that is killing people. So to present a vaccine mandate as some sort of ultimate violation of peoples human rights is just irresponsible."
Federal Member for Mallee, Anne Webster, launched her petition earlier this month which calls for the reversal of the vaccine mandate.
“While vaccination remains the safest and most important means for Australians to protect themselves and their loved ones from COVID-19, I cannot support the Premier’s overreach on Victorians. Using coercive tactics and the threat of economic insecurity is wrong.” Dr Webster said.
“Mr Andrews has crossed an important line. Where the Victorian government should be encouraging vaccinations, he has begun coercing the public with an economic exclusion notice.”
