The undefeated Boomers have qualified for the FIBA Asia Cup semi-finals after securing a 84-60 victory over the Philippines at Jeddah’s King Abdullah Sports City.

Australia nailed seven of 12 three-point attempts in the opening quarter to set up a 48-28 half time lead.
The Philippines threatened a fightback after outscoring their opponents in the third stanza, but the Boomers flexed their muscles in the final quarter, charging towards the 24-point triumph.
Boomers coach Adam Caporn was thrilled with the performance, saying after the game “I’m really proud of how we rebounded and defended. We just rallied on the defensive end and on the boards".
Owen Foxwell and Jaylin Galloway scored a team-high 15 points each for the Boomers, while star big man Will Magnay contributed all over the stat sheet with ten points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal and one blocked shot.
The Asia Cup contest was the first time Australia and The Philippines have played since the infamous brawl of 2018, which resulted in 13 players suspended and over $1 million worth of fines handed out.
Australia sealed wins against South Korea, Lebanon and Qatar to qualify for the knockouts. The defending champions are one step closer towards a coveted three-peat, having won the two previous editions of the tournament in 2017 and 2022.
The Boomers will face Iran in the semi-finals, after they produced a thrilling comeback against Chinese Taipei to win by three points.
Chinese Taipei took a 12-point lead into three quarter time, but Iran outscored them 26-11 in the final term to win 78-75.
