Australia’s agriculture sector is on track to surpass the $100 billion production milestone, four years ahead of the National Farmers Federation’s 2030 target.
The Australian Bureau of Agricultural Resources Economics and Sciences forecasts farm gate production will reach $101.4 billion in 2025–26. When combined with fisheries and forestry, the total value is expected to hit $107.4 billion, with exports forecast at almost $85 billion.
Agriculture Minister Julie Collins said the milestone reflects both the skill of Australia’s farmers and government efforts to expand trade opportunities.
“This shows what can be achieved when government and industry work together,” Ms Collins said. “Our farmers are powering the national economy and demonstrating resilience in the face of challenges like drought, floods, and global market disruptions.”
NFF President Hamish McIntyre described the achievement as “landmark,” noting it was earned through hard work, resilience, and a detailed industry roadmap balancing productivity, sustainability, and farmer wellbeing.
The Albanese Government says this record result also reflects trade diversification, with agricultural exports now reaching around 190 markets worldwide.
