AUSTRALIAN AGRICULTURE PASSES $100 BILLION TARGET

Australian agriculture has reached a farmgate output value of $101.4 billion, passing the National Farmers’ Federation’s $100 billion target four years ahead of schedule.

More than 300 agricultural, political, business and regional leaders gathered at Parliament House in Canberra to mark the milestone.

NFF President Hamish McIntyre says the achievement belongs to farmers and the wider agricultural supply chain, which has continued to grow despite droughts, floods, bushfires and global disruption.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese highlighted measures including securing fuel and fertiliser supplies, plans for a one-billion-litre strategic fuel reserve, and more than $113 million for H5 bird flu preparedness.

The NFF says the $100 billion milestone is now a platform for the next national ambition.

It will work with AgriFutures Australia over the next year to develop a new long-term goal, to be unveiled at AgXchange in Adelaide in August 2027.
