Anonymous caller about 2015 Mildura Murray death urged to come forward

Victoria Police are urging an anonymous caller to Crime Stoppers to contact them again with information about the death of Terrence McCallion, who was found unresponsive in the Murray River almost six years ago.

The 55-year-old man was located fully clothed in the water by passers-by onboard a houseboat between Bruce’s Bend and Psyche Pumps, Mildura about 3pm on 1 May 2015.

Another man was on the bank at the time and began yelling out for those on the houseboat to help. The man, who is a person of interest to police, is believed to have left the scene in the victim's white Nissan Pulsar shortly after.

The group used a small boat to recover the Buronga man and commenced CPR before emergency services arrived.

The victim sadly died in hospital later that night.

Despite a thorough investigation, detectives are still working to piece together the circumstances which led the victim to enter the river that afternoon.

Police suspect that he was assaulted and have spoken to the man of interest on numerous occasions since the incident.

Investigators are hoping more people in the community may have information about Terrence McCallion’s earlier movements on Thursday 30 April and the morning of Friday 1 May.

Police have also released images of his vehicle, which had a distinctive spider sticker on its back-right door, in the hope someone may have seen it prior to or following the incident.
