Alex De Minaur has been knocked out of the French Open in the second round after being upset by Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublik in five sets.

De Minaur won the first two sets comfortably, both with a 6-2 scoreline, but when fatigue set in Bublik stormed home to win the final three sets 6-4 6-3 6-2 as De Minaur noticeably looked more tired as the match continued.

Following six straight Grand Slams in which he advanced to at least the fourth round, it's De Minaur's worst result at a major since Wimbledon in 2023.

De Minaur made no secret of the fatigue he was feeling, declaring after the match he was burnt out, and mentally tired.

As part of a long statement about the grueling year-long schedule, De Minaur joined a growing chorus of players who want the season to be shortened, and the load on players to be reduced.

While De Minaur battled foot injuries in his first round win and second round loss, Adam Walton also struggled with a shoulder injury as he was defeated by 17th seed Andrey Rublev 7-6 6-1 7-6.

Alexei Popyrin is now the only Australian remaining in the men's tournament, he will resume his campaign tonight against Portugal's Nuno Borges, with a spot in the final 16 on the line for the winner.

In the women's tournament, 17th seed Daria Kasatkina is Australia's last remaining player. She defeated France's Leolia Jeanjean 6-4 6-2 to book a third round match against 10th seed Paula Badosa from Spain.
