The SA Country Fire Service estimates a weekend blaze caused $5 million damage to the state's agricultural research capabilities near Naracoorte in the state's south east.
Primary Industries minister Clare Scriven said the blaze that began at 12:24am Saturday morning at the Struan Research Centre had not injured people or animals thanks to the quick work of volunteer firefighters.
Whilst the Minister would not be drawn on Monday morning on the damage cost, later that morning the CFS advised the damage bill had been upgraded to $5 million.
