A New League of its own

In an age where football competitions are folding, the Murray Valley Football and Netball League is a start up that should bring a positive response from the small country towns of the Riverland, Mallee and Mid Murray in South Australia and the border of Victoria.

A group of clubs that were formerly associated with Riverland Football league have formed their own identity and begin matches this weekend. Paringa, Ramco, Browns Well, Wunkar, Blanchetown / Swan Reach, Sedan / Cambrai and the new arrivals Murrayville from the old collapsed SA Mallee competition.


The Friday Night Sport Show caught up with Heidi Roesler, President of the Sedan Cambrai Football and Netball Club on the eve of the season starting. Heidi described the excitement for the towns in getting started under a new banner. She also picked up on the positive acceptance of the Murrayville newcomers from her club and why the season is having a late start.





Saturdays matches will see the new colours of Murrayville in the Navy Blue unfold against Browns Well Bombers, Ramco hosts Wunkar Bulldogs while the premiers from 2022 Blanchetown Swan Reach Redbacks host Heidi Roeslers Sedan Cambrai Magpies.
