Viterra in line for healthy harvest as bumper 2023/24 season looms

The world-leading, fully integrated agriculture network received its first delivery of wheat this week at one of its bases in South Australia's West Coast, in Thevenard.

Jesse Chandler, a grower in the Charra area, made no secret of his optimism for the new season upon making the first delivery.

“It’s always great to make a start to harvest after everything that goes into producing a crop. It’s exciting to get into harvest and be Viterra’s first load for the state,” Chandler said.

“Although we’ve started earlier than normal and yields are down a little, quality is good with H1 on our first load.

“We would’ve liked a little more rain this year to get yields up a bit, but we’ll take what we can get.”

In June, Global grain company Bunge merged with Viterra in a deal that created one of the world's largest agribusinesses.
