Farmers attending the Henty Machinery Field Days this week will be able to experience the future of agriculture through a new virtual reality (VR) display from the NSW Government’s Farms of the Future (FotF) program.
The immersive exhibit, located in Agtech Alley, showcases cutting-edge agricultural technology through five different virtual farm settings. From in-paddock weighing systems to weather stations and water tank monitors, the experience offers a first-hand view of how technology is transforming farming.
Farms of the Future Manager Ailie Webb said the initiative helps make complex technology more accessible.
“This new virtual reality experience is making Agtech more engaging and easier to understand, whether you’re in the classroom or out in the paddock,” she said.
The program is also being rolled out in schools, with high schools receiving sensors to track real-time data like soil moisture and humidity. Supporting teaching materials aligned to the NSW curriculum have also been developed.
“We want to make Agtech education more hands-on, relevant and aligned with real-world farming practices,” Ms Webb said.
The VR headsets will also appear at the Australian National Field Days in October.
