Victorian Farmers Encouraged to Access Bushfire Recovery Support

In Victoria, farmers affected by the January bushfires are being encouraged to explore the recovery assistance still available to help rebuild their businesses.

Rural Assistance Commissioner Peter Tuohey says recovery can take months or even years, and some producers may not realise they remain eligible for financial support.

Primary Producer Bushfire Recovery Grants of up to seventy-five thousand dollars are available to assist with clean-up efforts, infrastructure repairs and restoring farm operations.

Concessional loans of up to two-hundred-and-fifty thousand dollars are also available for producers who suffered significant asset damage, while loans of up to one-hundred thousand dollars can help those facing major income losses.

Agriculture Victoria staff continue to work with local communities, providing technical advice on livestock management, pasture recovery, water supplies and re-fencing.

Farmers can also access free support through the Rural Financial Counselling Service, which offers financial and wellbeing assistance as recovery efforts continue.
