Victorian council worker one of two dead

A 57-year-old Yarra Ranges Council worker has been identified as one of two men found dead following a shooting on Australia Day.

Marty Sheahan, who worked for Yarra Ranges Council, was found dead at his Warburton home about 8.30 pm on Wednesday.

Police said they responded to a call that "shots had been fired" at the property on Clarke Avenue, where they found the 57-year-old's body.

A short time later, police found a second 57-year-old man dead in a toilet block at a reserve on Warburton Highway.

The two men were known to each other and the two incidents are linked, police said.

Yarra Ranges Council issued a statement on Thursday afternoon, remembering Mr Sheahan as a dedicated worker.

"Marty had been with council for six years and was a much-valued member of our Infrastructure Services department," the council said.
"We know that many people who worked with and knew Marty will be shocked hearing today's news and deeply upset about his passing, and we will be offering every support we can."
