VFF LAUNCHES MAJOR MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN

By Jessica Dempster
The Victorian Farmers Federation is launching its biggest membership campaign in more than a decade, as agriculture faces a generational change in its workforce.
Jobs and Skills Australia data shows agriculture, forestry and fishing had a median worker age of 51 in 2025 - 11 years older than the median age across the Australian workforce.
The VFF says a new generation of farmers is increasingly taking on farming businesses across Victoria, bringing new skills and ideas to the industry.
As part of its campaign, farmers aged under 35 will receive a 35% discount across all VFF membership tiers.
VFF President Ryan Milgate says every generation needs to have a voice as farms are passed on to the next generation, with a significant transfer of farmland expected in coming years.
He says the organisation needs to grow alongside the farming community and wants more farmers to become members to strengthen its collective voice.
