Speeding driver clocked at 197 km/h

Less than 30 minutes away from the famed raceway at Tailem Bend, a Meninge man decided the Princess Highway was close enough.

The 40-year driver turned the highway into his own private raceway, with a SAPOL officer clocking the man at 197 km/h near Wellington East.

Interestingly, the man had a passenger in the car, his faithful dog. No word from SAPOL on the breed of dog. I wonder, did it have its head out the window while its owner was cruising at nearly 200 km/h?

He won't be driving his Silver Merc for some time though. His license has been torn up for 6 months and he's copped a whopping $1800 fine.
