RURAL AID HITS 100 MILLION LITRE MILESTONE

Rural Aid has delivered its 100 millionth litre of domestic water to farming families across Australia, marking a major milestone for a program established during the 2018 drought.

The service was sparked by Orange resident Jane Doherty, who saw farmers struggling for household water and began personally funding deliveries before approaching Rural Aid to help expand the effort.

What began as a local response has grown into a national program providing water for drinking, showers, washing, cleaning and other essential household needs.

Rural Aid Chief Executive John Warlters says the milestone represents thousands of farming families who have relied on the service when their water supplies have become limited.

Sheep farmer Peter Rogers from Ashford in New South Wales says deliveries provide water for his family of six for drinking, showers and washing, without adding an unexpected cost to the household budget.

Rural Aid continues to provide domestic water deliveries alongside financial assistance, hay and wellbeing support for farming families experiencing hardship.
