Rural Aid Expands Support as Dry Conditions Continue

Rural Aid says demand for drought assistance continues to increase across eastern Australia, with many farming families facing mounting pressure from prolonged dry conditions.

The organisation says limited feed and water supplies, combined with rising fuel, fertiliser and transport costs, are creating significant challenges for producers already operating under tight financial conditions.

Singleton dairy farmer Jason Cousins says conditions in parts of New South Wales continue to deteriorate, with little feed available in paddocks despite large farming areas.

He says hay deliveries provided through Rural Aid have become essential to keeping livestock fed, with the support extending what he described as a vital lifeline for producers.

In northern New South Wales, Ashford farmer Kathy Gleeson says dry conditions following recent bushfires have left paddocks bare, winter feed crops lost and water supplies under severe pressure.

Rural Aid Chief Executive John Warlters says the organisation is continuing to respond wherever support is needed, providing hay, water, financial assistance and counselling services to drought-affected farming communities.
