Twelve rural community hubs across Australia will each receive $10,000 as part of Rbaobank's inaugural Rabo Community Hub Program, designed to support and upgrade vital local facilities. The initiative, which ran throughout August, attracted nearly 300 entries from halls and community centres nationwide.

Funded by the Rabo Community Fund - established in 2021 to strengthen rural and regional sustainability - the $120,000 program aims to improve infrastructure in communities where gathering spaces are essential. Rabobank says these hubs play a “significant role” in bringing farming and rural populations together.

Rabobank Australia CEO Mark Wiessing said the bank was pleased with the response to the new initiative.

“It’s terrific to see the program attract so many entries in its first year,” he said.

“We recognise the significant role that local halls and community centres play in rural communities and anticipated a high level of interest in the program.”

“We hope this funding helps recipients make the most of their buildings, and we look forward to updates on their facility upgrades.”
