Potato Industry Leadership Program Launched

Australian potato growers and industry workers are set to benefit from a new five-year workforce training and leadership program aimed at strengthening skills and succession planning across the sector.

Funded by Hort Innovation and delivered by AUSVEG, the program will provide leadership development, tailored training, mentoring and study tours for emerging and experienced growers.

AUSVEG Chief Executive Michael Coote says the program is aimed at strengthening leadership across the industry and addressing ongoing skills and workforce pressures and will focus on practical training to better equip the sector for future challenges.

Hort Innovation General Manager Production and Sustainability Anthony Kachenko says the investment will help build capability, confidence and industry networks.

The program will also include international study tours and industry consultation through grower surveys and a reference group.
