Pasin concerned Albanese's Quad focus is climate, not global security

Re-elected Liberal MP Tony Pasin has given new Prime Minister Anthony Albanese a send-off to quadrilateral talks, saying he should focus on security not climate at the summit.

Resoundingly endorsed in his seat in south-eastern South Australia, the conservative Liberal MP expressed concern on Flow's podcast (player below) that as Mr Albanese was sworn in as prime minister on Monday, his primary concern at a global summit was about climate change.

The 'Quad' was recently formed between Japan, India, the United States and Australia in part to counter China's growing influence in the Pacific and to address mutual concerns about regional and global security.

The federal election result on Saturday showed strong metropolitan swings towards the Greens and 'teal' independents, both expressing concern about climate change, and Mr Albanese had too much to say on climate and not enough on security heading to the talks, Mr Pasin said.
